About Us

The Darwin Volleyball Association, known to its members as DVA is Darwin’s home for  hard-court and beach volleyball competitions!

DVA is run by an enthusiastic and committed volunteer team that brings competitive and well organised events to the volleyball community throughout the year. DVA is a not-for-profit organisation that is governed by the DVA Constitution August 2011 and competitors are required to abide by local rules as outlined in the DVA By Laws July 2015.

DVA competition organisers all hold 1st aid certificates, Working With Childrens cards and all events are covered under insurance through Volleyball NT.

Classic Hardcourt Competition – MARRARA

Our classic hardcourt competition is held at the Marrara Indoor Stadium. It features a well designed air-conditioned indoor stadium with ample space for spectators to cheer along competitors. Two seasons of competitions are run throughout the year as below:

  • Wednesday Womens, Mens or mixed comp
  • Thursday mixed comp – a fun and relaxed version of the game

Beach Volleyball Competition – MINDIL

Darwin’s premier Beach Volleyball Competition is held on particular Sunday’s throughout the dry season that are carefully coordinated with cooperative tides and the famous Mindil Beach Markets. Visitors and local spectators attend this event to cheer on Darwin’s top competitors with the sand, sun and sweat.

Harcourt Juniors – MARRARA

DVA supports VNT and local schools in training and sending juniors (15-18yo’s) to Australian Volleyball Schools Cup, held in Melbourne in 2017 and 2018, and the Gold Coast for the first time in 2019. Any juniors interested are encouraged to email DVA to find out current training/participation information.

  7. Hi maria, absolutely. We have a number of junior teams playing in our comps. If you are not quite comp-ready, we have also just announced weekly trainings for teenagers. Are you on facebook? Please check out our page- we do most of our advertising there. We start back again mid feb.

  8. Hi I was wondering if there were any teams in Darwin that I could join, I’m a self taught player and is really interested in playing volleyball. If there are I’m 13 turning 14 this year

  9. Hi chanthana, thanks for your message. Have you checked outniur Facebook page? Webare starting casual training for juniors the 3rd week in february. Its a good chance to come down and meet some other young players. We would love to meet you and check out your skill level before we introduce you to a team – primarily as we dont have a seperate junior comp. All our teams play against each other, and young or new players often really benefit from a few weeks of training first to build confidence and skill before starting in the comp. The trainings we are running are on Wednesdays, but we would actually recommend the Thursday comp for new juniors. Thu comp players we expect a higher level of sportsmanship, so more senior teams will be more gentle with new and young teams. The wed comp is a lot more hard hitting!
Check out our Facebook for info about the trainings and comp start dates etc.
